Visiting Fulbright Scholar Nitya Nand Gosvami Delivers MEAM Seminar at Penn Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics (MEAM) at University of Pennsylvania recently welcomed Dr. Nitya N. Gosvami, Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), who delivered a seminar titled “Controlling Friction and Wear via Engineered Surfaces and Advanced Nanomaterials”. The talk took place on October 21 from 10:15-11:15 AM in the Wu & Chen Auditorium, Levine Hall. (See more at events.seas.upenn.edu)

Dr. Gosvami’s work addresses critical challenges in tribology – friction, wear, and durability of moving interfaces – and explores how surface engineering and 2D/nanomaterials can offer breakthrough solutions. His research spans superlubric and scratch-resistant transparent coatings, bio-inspired patterned surfaces, and nanoparticle-based additives for next-generation liquid lubricants.
He is visiting Penn as part of the prestigious Fulbright‑Nehru Academic & Professional Excellence Fellowship for the 2025-2026 academic year, where he is collaborating with the group of Prof. Robert W. Carpick in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics.
We are delighted to host Dr. Gosvami and look forward to the research advances and interdisciplinary exchanges his visit will bring.
