Education

Ph.D. in Mechanics (2019), Tsinghua University, China.

  • Thesis: “Fundamental Characteristics of Graphite Mesa Superlubric System”
  • Advisor: Prof. Quanshui Zheng

B.S., Engineering Mechanics (2013), Tsinghua University, China.

Research

My research interest includes mechanics and tribology of solid interfaces on the micro- and nanoscale. I aim to uncover and explain unique phenomena through development and use of innovative new methods, with a potential to transformatively address global challenges in energy efficiency and sustainability. My prior and current research is focused on three intersecting areas:

  • Mechanochemistry – controlling chemical reactions through mechanics.
  • Structural superlubricity – achieving near-zero friction without lubricants.
  • Nanomechanics – understanding the fracture of 2D materials.
